REPORT OF FATAL COLLISION:
On Oct. 26, 2012 at approximately 1:30 a.m. Kurt Evans, 18, of Bodfish, was traveling eastbound on Saddle Springs Rd. when he lost control of his vehicle, a 1990 Toyota 4Runner. The vehicle left the roadway and overturned multiple times down the mountainside. The driver and passenger, Kevin Gutierrez, 19, of Weldon, were not wearing seatbelts and were ejected from the vehicle. The subsequent investigation led to Evan’s arrest for driving under the influence of an alcoholic beverage and vehicular manslaughter.

REPORT OF ARREST: On Oct. 1, 2012 at approximately 11:50 p.m. John E. Stewart, 56, of Mojave, was driving north on Lake Isabella Blvd. south of Lakeland St. He drove to the left of the double yellow center line. An enforcement stop was made. He showed signs of of being under the influence of alcohol and the following investigation led to his arrest for DUI.
