California: Menifee Police nab 3 DUI in saturation patrol; 1 DUI arrest in Coachella, Moises Montufar

DUI Saturation Patrols

On Saturday, January 10, 2015, at 5:59 p.m., Coachella police officers responded to Harrison Street and Bagdad Avenue regarding a minor injury traffic collision.

A brown Chevrolet Venture was southbound on Harrison Street and collided with another vehicle, which was stopped in the left turn lane at Bagdad Avenue. Three juveniles were in the Chevrolet at the time of the collision.

Paramedics treated two juveniles for minor injuries, and the driver of the other involved vehicle was not injured.

Moises Montufar DUI in Coachella Calif with 3 kids 011015

The driver of the Chevrolet, Moises Montufar, age 50, of Coachella, was arrested for felony DUI, child endangering, and driving under the influence of alcohol while on probation for prior DUI. Child Protective Services was notified, and the three juveniles, ages 5, 10, and 11, were temporarily placed with a family member. Montufar was booked at the county jail in the city of Indio.

The Coachella Police Department encourages all drivers not to drink and drive. To report drunk drivers, please call 911. On Saturday, January 10, 2015, at 8:49 p.m., La Quinta police officers responded to Highway 111 and Dune Palms Road regarding a non-injury traffic collision.

Officers arrived and learned a black Mitsubishi was westbound on Highway 111, approaching Dune Palms Road, and collided with another vehicle, which was traveling westbound on Highway 111. No one was injured, but alcohol was a factor in the collision.

The driver of the Mitsubishi, Nicolette Wilkes, 22, of North Carolina, was arrested for driving while intoxicated.  Wilkes was examined by medical staff at a local hospital before she was booked into the county jail in the city of Indio.

DUI SATURATION PATROL NETS 3 DUI ARRESTS

Menifee, CA – Officers from the Menifee Police Department’s DUI Enforcement Team conducted a DUI saturation patrol on Saturday, January 10, 2015 from 07:00 pm to 03:00 am. Officers sought out alcohol and drug-impaired drivers throughout the streets of Menifee in the Department’s ongoing traffic safety campaign.  This DUI saturation operation resulted in the following:

  • 37 vehicles were stopped
  • 6 drivers were cited for unsafe driving violations
  • 18 drivers were given standardized field sobriety tests
  • 3 drivers were arrested for DUI – alcohol
  • 3 drivers were arrested and cite/released for driving while unlicensed
  • 4 Vehicles were towed

The Menifee Police Department will continue to conduct DUI checkpoints and DUI saturation patrols in an ongoing effort to deter drunk/drugged driving and keep our streets safe.  Please, always designate a sober driver.

Perris, CA – Officers from the Perris Police Department’s DUI Enforcement Team conducted a DUI saturation patrol on Saturday, January 10, 2015 from 07:00 pm to 03:00 am. Officers sought out alcohol and drug-impaired drivers throughout the streets of Perris in the Department’s ongoing traffic safety campaign.  This DUI saturation operation resulted in the following:

  • 27 vehicles were stopped
  • 5 drivers were given standardized field sobriety tests
  • 1 driver was arrested for DUI – alcohol
  • 15 Drivers were cited for traffic violations
  • 6 drivers were cite/released for driving unlicensed or with a suspended license
  • 6 Vehicles were towed
