California: Michael Wayne Gordy charged with DUI after killing passenger in crash on Frenchtown Road

Michael Gordy, 51, of Oregon House, was charged today with second-degree murder after allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol and crashing his Ford Mustang on Monday. Timothy Rorie, 25, of Loma Rica, was riding shotgun and pronounced dead on the scene. A rear passenger, Valorie Christensen, 41, also suffered major injuries. Gordy has six prior DUI convictions, his most recent being a felony DUI in 2007. Please don’t drink and drive!

A 25-year-old Marysville man, a vehicle passenger, was killed and two others suffered major injuries in a solo rollover crash Monday night in Yuba County, the California Highway Patrol reports.

The vehicle’s driver, Michael Wayne Gordy, 51, of Oregon House was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence, the CHP said in a news release. He and a 41-year-old Brownsville woman suffered serious injuries in the crash.

The CHP provided these details about the fatal crash:

About 8:25 p.m., the CHP received reports of a crash on Frenchtown Road near Frenchtown-Dobbins Road. The right-front vehicle passenger was declared dead at the scene. His name has not been released pending notification of family.   MORE
