California: Modesto Police report one dead, one charged with DUI homicide

Modesto Calif.: According to Modesto Police Officer Billy Boyle a vehicle collision resulted in one person killed and one person arrested for Homicide at 8th St and L St.

On Sunday October 19th, 2014 at approximately 2:10 PM, a collision occurred involving a 2012 Audi Sedan and a 2010 Chevrolet Malibu. The Audi was traveling westbound on L St crossing the intersection of 8th St. The Malibu was traveling southbound on 8th and collided with Audi in the intersection of L St.

The 38 year old male driver of the Audi was transported to a local area hospital by ambulance and later died as a result of injuries sustained from the collision. His name is being withheld pending the notification to the next of kin. The driver of the Malibu, a 32 year old Modesto resident, sustained moderate injuries as a result of the collision. He was transported to a local area hospital and treated for his injuries. During the investigation, the driver of the Malibu showed signs of being under the influence of an alcoholic beverage(s). He was arrested for numerous charges including Vehicular Manslaughter, Felony Driving Under the Influence, and Homicide.

This is the 12th fatal collision in Modesto this year now totaling 15 people deceased. This is also the 5th involving driving under the influence.

As a standard procedure, a comprehensive collision investigation has begun and is in the early stages of the process.
