Pedestrian mowed down by DUI driver; Anastasia Hull charged with DUI gross vehicular manslaughter

HUNTINGTOWN BEACH, CALIF. —  04/27/2017 — According to police, on Thursday, April 27, 2017, at 4:04 am, the Huntington Beach Police Department responded to the area of Beach Blvd north of Edinger Ave regarding a traffic collision involving a vehicle and a pedestrian.

Arriving officers located a male pedestrian, 55-year-old, in need of medical attention and paramedics were requested. The male was transported to UCI Medical Center where he succumbed to his injuries. His name will not be released until next of kin can be notified.

The involved driver, a 34-year-old female, Anastasia Hull, remained at the scene and was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence. She was driving a 2000 BMW X5.

Based on the preliminary investigation, it appears the vehicle was traveling north on Beach Blvd from Edinger Ave when it struck a light pole, an electrical box, a traffic signal light and the male pedestrian on the east sidewalk of Beach Blvd.
The investigation is ongoing and is being conducted by the HBPD Major Incident Response Team (M.I.R.T).
