Camarena, Porfirio DUI Riverside Calif SD 080214

Indio, Calif. 08/02/2014— According to Riverside County Sheriff’s Department Sgt. Adam Elders, on 07-22-14 deputies from the Thermal Sheriff’s station were investigating a report of a family disturbance in the 84000 block of Leyte, Indio.

The family member advised that the other involved party had just left and was possibly under the influence of narcotics. While the deputies were at the address the suspect, Porfirio Camarena, age 47 of Indio, drove past in his vehicle.

Deputies followed the vehicle and observed several indicators of DUI. Deputies attempted to stop the vehicle and the driver failed to yield and a pursuit ensued. The vehicle drove into the city of Indio and onto the Fantasy Springs Casino property on Indian Springs Drive where the vehicle attempted to drive through the front doors of the casino.

The driver of the vehicle refused to comply with deputies demands and had to be forcibly removed from the vehicle.

There were no injuries sustained by the suspect or any deputies. The suspect was given a medical clearance and booked into the county jail in the city of Indio.
