According to West Covina Police, on Monday evening, October 26, 2015 at about 2349 hours, a vehicle was driving northbound in the 1100 block of S. Valinda Avenue in West Covina when it struck a bicyclist who was also northbound in the #2 lane of travel.

The sound of the collision was heard by a West Covina PD Officer who was parked on Valinda north of Merced.

The officer saw the suspect vehicle driving away northbound and stopped it at Cameron Avenue. The area where the collision occurred was then checked and the male victim was found lying on the street. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the vehicle, who was not injured, was arrested and booked for Felony DUI causing great bodily injury or death and Felony Hit and Run. She has been identified as Presley Danielle Rodriguez, 25 of Glendora. Her bail is set at $100,000.00 and is scheduled to appear at West Covina Superior Court on Thursday, October 29, 2015 at 0830 hours.

The victim has been identified as Jose Ruiz-Villanueva, 44 of La Puente.
