DUI arrests have dropped dramatically statewide the past few years. While the state’s population continues to grow, the DUI arrest rate has declined nearly 36 percent since 2009, according the Utah Commission on Criminal and Juvenile Justice’s 2014 DUI report to the Legislature

The driver, Kelsey L. Hardister, 25, of Clayton, NC, was arrested for DUI. A search revealed she had a knife concealed on her person and a counterfeit $100 bill

The driver, Elias Gonzalez, 25, of Palm Desert, was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol and/ or drugs. Gonzalez was taken to a local area hospital as a precaution and then booked into the Riverside County Jail in Indio.

The driver of the vehicle, Edna Gonzalez, 20, residing in Indio, failed to maintain a straight course of travel. Gonzalez’ vehicle collided with a Time Warner Cable box, a Solar Tech traffic control billboard trailer sign, and a metal posted traffic control sign, all of which were located just west of S/B Monterey Avenue
