California: Highway Patrol arrested State Senator Benjamin Hueso for DUI; he says he is sorry and will accept his punishment

SACRAMENTO (08/23/2014) – A Democratic California State Senator from San Diego has been arrested in Sacramento under suspicion of DUI early Friday morning.

According to the Sacramento County Jail booking logs, 44-year-old Sen. Benjamin Hueso was booked at 3:27 a.m. Friday. California Highway Patrol confirms that they arrested the state senator.

Officer Julie Powell, a CHP representative, says that Hueso was driving a state vehicle when he was arrested. Hueso was reportedly driving the wrong way on 15th Street when he happened upon an officer. Hueso then did a u-turn in front of the officer, CHP says, before the officer eventually pulled him over in a parking lot at 15th and X Streets. He was arrested at 2:39 a.m., according to CHP.

South Carolina: Deputy Coroner was dead drunk; busted for DUI

WEST COLUMBIA, S.C. (08/21/2014) – A deputy coroner with the Lexington County Coroner’s Office has been arrested on DUI charges.

Barry Wright was arrested August 19 on driving under the influence charges and accused of having an open 24-ounce beer in his vehicle.

According to an incident report, Wright was found asleep at the wheel of his county-owned Ford Explorer shortly before 5 p.m. on Tuesday. The report goes on to say the car was still running and parked in the middle of Kleckley Drive. A West Columbia police

Florida: Columbia County Public Works Director Kevin Kirby was chauffered by county employees after DUI wreck; pleaded guilty

COLUMBIA COUNTY, FL – Just days away from jury selection and a full blown trial and a week after County Court Judge William F. Williams, III denied Mr. Kirby’s motions to dismiss the charges against him and suppress the testimony of one of the State’s key witnesses, Columbia County’s number two, Kevin Kirby, had a change of heart.

Tuesday afternoon at about 2:30 pm, in a hastily arranged court appearance, Mr. Kirby agreed to take the standard first time offender DUI plea agreement and pled guilty to driving under the influence. Mr. Kirby’s license remains suspended. He is on supervised probation.

California: San Francisco firefighter Michael Quinn busted for DUI after crashing firetruck and fleeing the scene…perhaps he was just out drumming up business for the grim reaper!

As he turned the truck, police say it hit a motorcycle. The rider was taken to San Francisco General Hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries.

Police say Quinn suddenly left the scene of the accident and disappeared for several hours before returning.
