Ohio: 5 On Your Side maps N. E. Ohio’s deadliest DUI crash zones; Cuyahoga leads the state in booze crash deaths

CLEVELAND – An exclusive 5 On Your Side investigation analyzed thousands of DUI accidents over ten counties and reveals Northeast Ohio’s deadliest DUI crash zones.

Relying on crash data obtained from the Ohio Department of Public Safety, our investigation mapped every alcohol related crash from 2009 through 2013.

We found 17,454 alcohol related crashes that included 449 deaths and 7,665 injuries throughout Ashtabula, Cuyahoga, Geauga, Lake, Lorain, Medina, Portage, Stark, Summit and Tuscarawas counties.

Diaz was driving recklessly in the parking lot, according to a witness, when he collided into a very large palm tree in front of JC Penney. Diaz did not sustain any injuries. Diaz was arrested and booked into the Riverside County Jail on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs, and for possession of brass knuckles. The driver of the Lexus, Timothy Hogan, age 25 from Palm Desert, was found to be driving his vehicle while under the influence of an alcoholic beverage. Timothy Hogan was taken to a local hospital for medical clearance and later booked into Riverside County Jail in the city of Indio for driving while intoxicated.
