South Dakota: Highway Patrol reports DUI arrests for Sturgis Rally hits 169; 5 fatal crashes
At 10:08 a.m., at the intersection of Sturgis Road and Stage Stop Road in Summerset, Margaret Rand, 65, Parker, SD, was driving a 1996 Dodge Intrepid south on Sturgis Road when she made a left turn at Stage Stop Road. Douglas Kellar, 56, Adams, NY, was driving a motorcycle north on Sturgis Road near the intersection and tried to avoid the turning vehicle. He was thrown from his motorcycle and collided with Rand’s vehicle. Kellar died of his injuries .He was wearing a helmet. Rand was not injured. She was wearing a seatbelt. Rand was cited for failure to yield

South Dakota: 45 DUI arrests, multiple crashes, two fatal reported by Highway Patrol for Sturgis Motorcycle Rally
At 4:39 p.m., Nickolas Hartwell, 19, Rapid City, was driving a Pontiac Grand Prix west on I-90, mm 27, three miles west of Sturgis. His vehicle hit a westbound motorcycle. Both the driver and passenger were thrown from motorcycle. The driver suffered serious non-life threatening injuries. The passenger sustained life threatening injuries. Names are not being released pending notification of family. Hartwell arrested for DUI, zero tolerance and reckless driving.
California: Lakeport Police tackle fleeing DUI biker Michael William Lockett in brush after chase
The Officer’s went down the embankment where they saw the wrecked motorcycle and the driver fleeing on foot through the thick brush towards Mellor Dr. The Officer’s caught up with the driver, identified as Lakeport resident, Michael William Lockett and detained him. Medical staff from Lakeport Fire Department was summoned and later transported Lockett to Sutter Lakeside Hospital for medical clearance.

California: Harley driver killed passenger in crash; DUI listed as factor; Christmas DUI patrols round up boozing drivers – According to Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, on Saturday, December 20, 2014, at 12:57 AM, officers from the San Jacinto Police Department responded to a fatal traffic collision at the intersection of State Street and Seventh Street in San Jacinto.
The initial investigation indicated a Harley Davidson motorcycle was traveling behind a Honda Civic, northbound on State Street.
The Harley Davidson collided into the rear of the Honda, causing the motorcycle rider and passenger to be ejected from the motorcycle.
