DUI crash leaves Lawrence Duran dead; Andrew Briseno in jail on DUI homicide charges
PUEBLO, COLORADO— 04/30/2017— Pueblo Police report that on Friday, April 28th around 1:10 PM, officers were dispatched the corner of Lakeview and Acero Ave. regarding a traffic accident.
Upon arrival, officers learned a maroon SUV, traveling north on Acero Ave., ran a stop sign and collided into a black truck that was traveling west on Lakeview.
Both drivers were transported to a local hospital, but the driver of the truck succumbed to his injuries. That individual has been identified as Lawrence Duran, 62.
The initial investigation revealed the maroon SUV is believed to have been traveling at a high rate of speed, with alcohol as possibly being a factor.
The driver of the SUV was identified as Andrew Jacob Briseno, 30. Briseno will receive treatment before being transported to the Pueblo County Detention Center where he will face charges of Vehicular Homicide, DUI, and Reckless Driving.
Andrew Jacob Briseno is being held without bond in the Pueblo County Jail.
