ALASKA: repeat offender Jack Collins out on bail for DUI, racked up another DUI arrest

Alaska State Trooper

FROM ALASKA DAILY NEWS:
(December 18, 2011) – A Wasilla 21-year-old with one drunken driving conviction on his record and out on bail from a November DUI arrest was arrested again early Saturday.

With him at the time: the court-approved third party who was supposed to be making sure he didn’t drive or drink, according to Alaska State Troopers.

Troopers say they tried to pull over a vehicle for speeding at Bogard Road and McKinley Drive just before 1 a.m. on Saturday.

The driver attempted to elude the officers, then stopped the vehicle and got out, running away on foot, troopers said.

Troopers brought in a police dog named Roelle, who tracked down the individual. Troopers later identified him as Jack A. Collins. He turned 21 on Dec. 14.

Troopers say he was driving under the influence, driving without a license, and in violation of his jail release conditions on a November DUI. His bail conditions including no alcohol and no driving without a license.

His passenger was Tyler A. Doyle, 23, of Wasilla. Troopers say Doyle was Collins’ court-approved third-party custodian.

Doyle first told troopers that Collins was not driving and gave a false name for him, a trooper report said.

Collins was charged with drunken driving, eluding, driving with a revoked license, and violating release conditions. He’s being held on $5,000 bail at the Mat-Su jail.

Doyle was arrested on charges of making a false report, hindering prosecution, and violating his custodial duties, troopers said. He posted bond and is out of jail.

Collins pleaded guilty in May to a drunken driving charge from an arrest in February, online court records show. In November, he was arrested on charges of drunken driving and being a minor in possession of alcohol. That case was pending when he was arrested Saturday, the records show.
