Florida: Man blasts through barrels at end of service road onto U.S. 17

A New Bern man injured in a wreck has been charged with driving while intoxicated in connection with the weekend incident, officials said Wednesday.   Jacksonville police responded to a report of a single vehicle wreck on the U.S. 17 bypass at U.S. 17 Business at approximately 11:30 p.m. Friday, according to Beth Purcell, a spokeswoman for Jacksonville Police Department.  Dennis Driver, 44, of 6206 Gondolier Drive in New Bern, was speeding in his 1997 Chevrolet 2500 pickup truck on the N.C. 24 service road when he reached the dead end and collided with the traffic barrels and guard rail, Purcell said. He then continued onto N.C. 24 and then right onto the U.S. 17 bypass, she said.   MORE
