05/08/2014 —-A Fort Walton Beach teen faces charges ranging from leaving the scene of an accident and careless driving to DUI.
Deputy Steve Baldwin spotted a silver Hyundai around 4:30 last night that matched the description of a car that had collided earlier with several other vehicles in the Kmart parking lot in Fort Walton Beach. The driver had left the scene.
Deputy Baldwin pulled over the driver on Clifford Street but says the teen would not comply with his requests, instead putting his car in reverse and backing into the Deputy’s patrol car. The driver, later identified as 18-year old Treyvon Cannon-Riggs of Fort Walton Beach, then ran over a satellite dish and a large green trash can and sped off towards Beal Parkway at a high rate of speed, escaping into heavy traffic.
Cannon-Riggs’ car was later found abandoned inside Pinecrest Mobile Home Park off Racetrack Road. He was taken into custody after being located at a trailer on Beal Parkway.
The Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office has charged Cannon-Riggs with DUI, hit and run, careless driving, aggravated fleeing and eluding, resisting an officer, and driving on a suspended license, along with multiple other traffic violations.
