Fairmont Police Department posted this notice on the agency’s Facebook page: “We are working a single-vehicle fatality accident involving an ambulance on W. Campbellton Street. The state patrol has been requested to the scene.”

Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports: McCorvey failed a sobriety test and was booked into the Fulton County jail to face his charges, the state patrol said. Jail records show he remained in custody Saturday morning without bond.

Troopers said McCorvey, who was driving for a private ambulance company, drove off the shoulder of the road, causing the ambulance to flip into the ditch. Wilton Thomason Jr., 66, was in the ambulance as a non-emergency patient and was not restrained. He was killed during the incident. MORE
