Hawaii: newspaper lists DUI convictions…hardly anyone ever goes to jail!

Editor’s note: This log of driving under the influence convictions is a regular feature of West Hawaii Today and is compiled using Hawaii District Court and Hawaii County Police Department records.
—  Joseph Milton Dubose III, 41, of Kailua-Kona, pleaded no contest May 2 to driving under the influence of an intoxicant. He was sentenced to pay $937 in fines and fees, referred to a driver’s education course, ordered to undergo substance abuse assessment and treatment, and enter a substance abuse rehabilitation program.
—  Leilani D.A. Parent, 23, of Kailua-Kona, pleaded no contest May 2 to driving under the influence of an intoxicant. She was sentenced to pay $962 in fines and fees, referred to a driver’s education course, ordered to undergo substance abuse assessment and treatment, and enter a substance abuse rehabilitation program. Her license was also revoked.
—  Michael Thomas Sausen, 50, of Kona, pleaded guilty May 2 to driving under the influence of an intoxicant and driving with a suspended or revoked license. He was sentenced to pay $1,224 in fines and fees, referred to a driver’s education course, ordered to undergo substance abuse assessment and treatment, and enter a substance abuse rehabilitation program.  …..MORE
