Chicago – 2013-09-22 — 27-year-old man has been charged in a fatal wreck that killed a 2-year-old girl as she was walking with her great-grandmother Friday on the city’s South Side.

Kellen E. Bledsoe of the 5700 block of South Aberdeen Street was charged Saturday night with reckless homicide/construction zone, aggravated DUI in an accident causing death, aggravated DUI/no valid drivers license, driving while never being issued a license and operating a vehicle without insurance, police said.The charges stem from a wreck that killed Ja’Mya Love as she was walking to a daycare center with her great-grandmother, police said.

About 6:25 a.m. Friday, the toddler sprang from her great-grandmother’s grasp when a 1999 Chrysler Concord blew a stop sign on the 5700 block of South Morgan Street. The great-grandmother, who was pushing Ja’Mya’s younger brother in a stroller, tried to move the toddler to safety, but the toddler sprang from her grasp, police said.
