PEKIN —A Pekin man who was driving a car in which a passenger was killed in an accident was indicted last week by a Tazewell County grand jury.
Brock L. Meerseman, 20, of 203 Harriett St. is charged with aggravated driving under the influence and disregarding a stop sign.
He faces a prison term of three to 14 years if convicted on the DUI charge because the Oct. 21 accident resulted in the death of Brandon Haley, 19, of Pekin.
According to court and police records, a Tazewell sheriff’s deputy discovered Meerseman’s heavily damaged car just before 8 a.m.
The car was about 50 feet off the road in a field near the intersection of Wagonseller and Hickory Grove roads southwest of Pekin.
