CHILLICOTHE —Steve Maurer’s tenure as Chillicothe police chief could be in jeopardy after the 54-year-old was arrested about 12:30 a.m. Tuesday and booked on charges including driving under the influence.
Mayor Troy Childers cut short a vacation in Pennsylvania and was en route to Chillicothe for a scheduled meeting Wednesday with Maurer and others.
“All I know, truly, is he got a DUI and he has a court date,” Childers said from Akron, Ohio. “The minute I get back, we’re going to sit down and see what’s going on.”
