Councilman Drew Eggers busted for DWI is also a deputy prosecutor; quit legal post but keeping council job

A Franklin City Council member was arrested on a misdemeanor drunken driving charge, prompting him to resign from his job as a Johnson County deputy prosecutor.

Eggers is an elected member of the Franklin City Council and was a deputy prosecutor for the Johnson County Prosecutor’s Office, where his job was to review cases to decide whether suspects should face criminal charges and prosecute those cases through the county court system. He resigned from the prosecutor’s office as of Monday, Eggers said in a written statement.

He remains a member of the city council.

Prosecutor Brad Cooper will file a motion this morning asking that a special prosecutor be appointed to review Eggers’ case and decide what, if any, criminal charge should be filed, Cooper said.  MORE

Nina Marie Bolin, 31, 100 Patterson St., Franklin; held on $1,000 bond.

Antwann Ennis, 22, 5253 Alameda Road, Indianapolis; held on $1,000 bond.

Dennis E. Ryan, 35, 201 Shelby St., Indianapolis; also arrested on charges of forgery and possession of paraphernalia; held on $6,400 bond.

Cameron Scott Hicks, 48, 475 Hummingbird Lane, Whiteland; held on $1,000 bond.

Andrew Charles Eggers, 32, Franklin; held on $1,000 bond.
