Sen. Tim Owens is driving hard toward a political deal to save key provisions of a DUIÂ reform package that caused fellow lawmakers to blanch when examining a price tag exceeding $10 million.
“I think we’re going to do it,” said Owens, chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee. “It’s a huge public safety effort. That’s one of the main governmental functions we have.”
The Kansas DUIÂ Commission took a sobering two-year look at the problem of drunken driving.
