LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Metro police have charged a man with murder and other offenses after they say he walked away from the scene of a fatal crash involving a motorcyclist late Wednesday night.

Genaro Herrera Hernandez, 27, is charged with murder, DUI, assault, wanton endangerment, leaving the scene of an accident. criminal mischief and driving without a license.  Metro police did not provide his hometown.

Hernandez could answer the charges as soon as Friday morning in district court.  He sat in Metro Corrections in downtown Louisville late Thursday.

Police said Hernandez was the driver of a car that crossed the center line and struck, head on, a motorcycle carrying two people.  The driver, identified by the coroner’s office as Phillip C. Frey, 62….MORE
