GRAND MARAIS, La. –A firefighter with the Grand Marais Volunteer Fire Department crashed a unit early in the morning on March 26, 2017, while he was allegedly intoxicated, according to a spokesman with the Iberia Parish Sheriff’s Office.

Trevor J. Olivier, 31, was traveling along Weeks Island Road around 5 a.m. when he crashed the vehicle into a residence in the 8000 block.

The homeowners say Olivier hit their son’s bedroom, but fortunately, he was not home at the time of the crash. No one was injured.

As a result of the crash, the sheetrock is cracked throughout the residence, and the impact shifted it several inches off of the foundation.

According to the homeowner, this is the second time an incident like this has happened in the last year.

Olivier was booked into the Iberia Parish Jail on multiple charges, including unauthorized use of a vehicle and driving while intoxicated.

The fire chief with Grand Marais Volunteer Fire Department says Olivier was not authorized to drive the vehicle.    MORE
