SLIDELL, LA. According to St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s deputies, a 41-year-old Slidell mother was arrested Thursday evening for driving while intoxicated after she was pulled over for driving erratically with her three young children in the vehicle.

Shortly before 8 p.m. Thursday a deputy was dispatched to Willow wood Subdivision near Slidell after several residents called to report a white GMC SUV driving recklessly through the neighborhood.

Residents told deputies the vehicle nearly ran over three people that were standing in their own yard, a man walking his dog and several mailboxes as well as narrowly avoiding at least one collision with another vehicle.

The suspect vehicle was observed pulling into the drive-thru at a local fast food restaurant on Gause Boulevard East and a traffic stop was initiated.

The deputy noted a strong odor of alcoholic beverage emitting from the driver’s breath, slurred speech, and extremely glossy eyes. The driver, Licia Greenleaf (DOB 02-10-1973; 109 Dillon Drive, Slidell) was unsure on her feet and could not stand without support.

The deputy also observed a set of triplets under the age of 3 in the back seat. The children were properly restrained in approved car seats.

Greenleaf admitted to having taken prescription medication (Lexapro and Xanax) and drinking wine before leaving her residence.

She registered a .209g% on the Intoxilyizer and was booked into the St. Tammany Parish Jail for 14:98 Driving While Intoxicated and 32:58 Careless Operation. Her children were released into the custody of a friend, and the case was forwarded to the state Department of Children and Family Services.
