Louisiana: prosecutor busted for DWI twice in 2 weeks but he’s still on the job putting others into jail

AMITE CITY, La. —
The DWI arrest of a town prosecutor in Tangipahoa Parish — not once, but twice in two weeks — has some members of the town council calling on the mayor to take action.
“He prosecutes every case that comes through,” Councilman Walter Daniels said of Richard Schwartz. “I don’t know what makes him so special.”
Schwartz, 62, faces charges stemming from two separate incidents in May.
On May 13, Schwartz was arrested by a Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries officer after he was pulled over on I-55 in Tangipahoa Parish. He was charged with Driving While Intoxicated and having an open container in his car.
Twelve days later — on May 25 — Schwartz was pulled over again, in Kenner, on suspicion of driving drunk. The police report from Kenner indicates Schwartz was involved in a crash in a parking lot. ….MORE
