BATON ROUGE- The Louisiana Highway Safety Commission has awarded nearly $150,000 to Baton Rouge City Court to act as a test site for the state’s first Municipal DWI Court. The court would provide counseling and rehabilitation services for repeat offenders, if they plead guilty. Judge Suzan Ponder said there is an incentive to plead guilty. “They have the opportunity to have very hands on treatment, individual counseling, group counseling and at the end of the year and progress,” Ponder said. “They will not continue to drink.” MORE
