Louisiana:Iota Man Dies in Two Vehicle Crash

Acadia Parish (May 10, 2011) – Last night, Louisiana State Police Troop I reports it investigated a two vehicle crash on LA 91 near Regan Road.  The crash claimed the life of an Iota man.
According to investigating troopers, on May 7, 2011, at 10:22 p.m., 50-year-old Joseph Miller of Iota, LA, was driving north on LA 91 on a 2010 Harley Davidson motorcycle.  Miller was riding next to 53-year-old Joseph Reed of Iota, LA, who was driving a 1987 Honda motorcycle.  While both riders were negotiating a right curve, they collided with each other.  Evidence gathered at the scene indicates the crash occurred due to the riders traveling next to each other while attempting to negotiate the curve.
Miller was pronounced dead at the scene by the Acadia Parish Coroner.  Reed was transported to a local hospital with moderate injuries.  Reed was arrested last night for DWI 1st offense and will be booked when he is released from the hospital.  Toxicology samples were obtained on both drivers and have been submitted to the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab for analysis.  This crash remains under investigation.
