Maine: State Police report OUI arrests Sept. 23, 2013; Barry Colby charged while operating his motorcycle…how bright is that, ride a donorcycle while impaired?

 

2013-09-23 —On Aug. 25, 2013, Maine State Police Troop A reports that Sgt. Robert Nichols arrested BARRY COLBY (55 y.o.) from Milton, NH for OUI on his motorcycle on Rt. 202 in Alfred on 8-24-13. Also, COLBY’S son, COREY (36 y.o.) who was operating another motorcycle in the group with his father, was summonsed for operating without a license as he had no motorcycle permission on his license. The group of motorcycles was stopped for excessive exhaust noise.  While stopped at a red light at the intersection of Rt. 111, 202, and 4 in Alfred, BARRY COLBY sat at the red light racing the engine of the motorcycle. Sgt. Nichols stopped the motorcycles and found the violations.

8-3-13 Tpr. Michael Pappas was off duty in his personal vehicle. At approximately 2230 hours, Tpr. Pappas was travelling on Rt. 111 in Biddeford. Tpr. Michael Pappas observed a male driving erratically on a motorcycle. Trooper Pappas drove behind the male, and contacted the Biddeford PD to report the possibly intoxicated operator. The operator of the motorcycle stopped at a red light, parking on the center line. Tpr. Pappas then watched as the operator fell off the motorcycle, and was pinned beneath it. Tpr. Pappas lifted the motorcycle off the male, and the operator attempted to start the motorcycle back up. Tpr. Pappas told the male to get off the bike, and stood by with him until uniformed Biddeford Officers arrived on scene. After subsequent investigation Biddeford Police Officers placed the operator under arrest for Operating Under the Influence.

Squirrel squealing tires attracted attention to his suspended license

7-18-13 Sgt. Robert Burke was monitoring the intersection of Cape Rd. and Waterboro Rd. in the town of Hollis when he observed a vehicle squealing tires in the parking lot of the Sunoco station.  Sgt. Burke stopped the vehicle for unnecessary brake/acceleration noise.  Upon contact with the operator, JOSHUA BURGESS (26 y.o. of Buxton), it was determined that his license was suspended for OUI and he was in violation of his bail conditions by committing a new criminal act.  He was arrested for Violating Bail Conditions and OAS.  He was transported and booked in the York County Jail.

On July 13, 2013, Maine State Police report that Tpr. Benjamin Smith arrested CHARLES BELANGER (24 y.o. of Lyman)  for OUI in Dayton. His reported BAC was 0.18.

On 09-04-13 Tpr. William Plourde received an erratic operating complaint from mile marker 48 NB in Richmond. Tpr. Plourde set up at mile marker 109 and pulled in behind the offending vehicle which was traveling in the left lane. Tpr. Plourde observed erratic operation and observed it nearly stuck another vehicle at mile marker 113 in the right lane and believed that the subject was operating under the influence. Erika Goodman (18) of Greenwich, CT was arrested for failing to stop for a police officer and was also summonsed for usable amount of marijuana. She stated that she didn’t know that her vehicle was the one Tpr. Plourde was trying to pull over and admitted that she saw the lights and heard the siren. She was transported to the Kennebec County Correctional Facility.

On 09-14-13 Tpr. Bureau was dispatched to a vehicle rollover on the North Searsport Road in Frankfort.  Katelyn R. Ross (27) was ultimately charged with Operating under the influence of alcohol.

On 09-15-13 Tr. Rogers received a traffic complaint on I-295 in Bowdoinham of an erratically operated vehicle.  The truck was located in Freeport and after observing poor operation it was stopped.  Marvin Woodbury (64) was charged with OUI.
