Maryland: boozing kid dumps stolen car into river after joy ride

Trappe – According to Talbot County Sheriff Dallas Pope on July 3, Deputies from the Talbot County Sheriff’s Office responded to the 29000 block of Bolingbroke Point Drive for a motor vehicle accident where the motor vehicle was abandoned in the water. Upon arrival Deputies noted that the motor vehicle had left the roadway on Ocean Gateway, drove through an embankment and into a private lot, driving around the residence into the rear of the residence. Tracks indicate the vehicle got stuck in the yard and was unable to drive forward. The vehicle was driven backward and drove onto the bulkhead and partially into the water. The owner of the vehicle indicated the vehicle had been stolen from their residence in Cambridge, MD sometime during the night. A short time later a 14 year old male from Cambridge, MD was located near the crash site and appeared disoriented. The juvenile was noticeably intoxicated and was transported to Easton Memorial Hospital for treatment. Investigation revealed the juvenile had stolen the vehicle from Cambridge, MD while intoxicated and after joy riding crashed the vehicle where it was recovered. The juvenile was ordered held in juvenile detention pending further action by Juvenile Services.
