Maryland: Devonne Brooks charged with DUI after crashing head-on into patrol car

Devonne Brooks passed other vehicles and slammed head-on into this now demolished patrol  car.

2013-12-13 — The Prince George’s County Police Department is investigating a crash involving a suspected drunk driver in Laurel who police report hit head-on a marked patrol officer as the DUI driver attempted to pass another vehicle.

 On December 13, 2013, at about 1:30 am, patrol officers were called to the intersection of Baltimore Avenue and Muirkirk Meadows Drive for a crash involving an on-duty Prince George’s County Police officer.
The preliminarily investigation reveals the suspect, identified as 32-year-old Devonne Brooks of the 5600 Whitfield Chapel Road in Lanham, was driving a Toyota Camry northbound on Baltimore Avenue.  Police Officer First Class Andrew Wallman was in his marked cruiser heading southbound on Baltimore Avenue.  Investigators believe Brooks crossed into oncoming traffic to pass another driver and struck POFC Wallman’s cruiser head on.
POFC Wallman was taken to the hospital for minor injuries. He has since been released. POFC Wallman was wearing his seatbelt.  Brooks was not hurt.  The preliminarily investigation reveals Brooks had been drinking prior to the crash.  A breath test revealed he had a blood alcohol content of .16 which is twice the legal limit.  He was arrested and faces charges related to driving under the influence of alcohol.
POFC Wallman is a seven-year veteran of the department. He’s assigned to the Bureau of Patrol.
