Anne Arundel County Md. Police report that on December 2, 2014 at approximately 2:30am traffic safety officers and fire department personnel responded to a report of a single vehicle crash on Solley Road at Chestnut Springs Lane in Glen Burnie.

Preliminary investigation revealed a black 2005 Honda Civic, occupied by two people, was northbound on Solley Road when it crossed the centerline, left the roadway and struck a tree and street sign.

The female passenger was found with severe head injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.  The driver was uninjured but suspected to be under the influence of alcohol. He was arrested and transported to Northern District.

After consulting with the States Attorney’s Office, the driver was charged with Homicide by Motor Vehicle while Intoxicated, DUI, and other traffic charges.

The cause of the crash appears to be excessive speed for the conditions and alcohol. Traffic Safety is handling the investigation.
