Edgewater, Md. — Anne Arundel County Police report that on April 18, 2015, at approximately 7:24 p.m., an officer was on a traffic stop at Solomons Island Road northbound near Tarragon Road in Edgewater on the shoulder of the roadway. The officer was in his marked patrol vehicle with its emergency lights activated when a gray 1992 Dodge Van came onto the shoulder of the road and struck the rear of the police vehicle.

The police vehicle was pushed into the vehicle it had stopped.  The officer immediately called for help and approached the driver of the at fault vehicle.  Due to the driver’s actions and demeanor, the officer removed him from the vehicle.

During the investigation, the at-fault driver was charged with driving under the influence of a controlled dangerous substance and other assorted traffic offenses including the “Move Over Law”.  After being processed, he was taken to the commissioner and was committed to the detention center with a $250,000 bond.

At-Fault Driver:  Robert Salvatore Lamb, 50, of 23 Acorn Drive, Annapolis, Md.
