Charges pending against operator of boat for boating while intoxicated
OCEAN CITY, Maryland (August 7, 2011) –  On August 7, 2011, at 9:50 am, the Maryland Natural Resources Police (NRP) recovered the body of a missing person that fell off a 24 foot pontoon boat in the Assawoman Bay near 126th Street, Ocean City on Saturday August 6, at 7:30 pm.
NRP’s investigation into the boating accident revealed that Robert Stanley Holmes, 53 from Lansdowne, Md was operating the vessel when a passenger fell off the bow of the boat while the vessel was under way.  Holmes and other passengers searched unsuccessfully for the victim.  The passenger’s name is being with held pending notification of the next of kin.  Alcohol is suspected to be a contributing factor in the boating accident.
NRP, MSP aviation, and Coast Guard searched for Hock until 11:00pm on Saturday.    NRP resumed the search at day break for the victim and utilized surface searches, dragging operations, scuba divers and side scan sonar.  NRP Officers recovered the victim near the accident site.
NRP Special Operations Division is continuing the investigating into the accident.  This is Maryland’s 16th fatal boating accident victim of the year.
