Clinton Township police late Saturday said one person is in custody and officers were still interviewing witnesses as part of a lengthy investigation into the incident, which took place about 11 p.m. on southbound Gratiot north of 16 Mile Road.
“I’ve been investigating fatal accidents since 1988 and as a crime scene, this accident is one of the most chaotic and complex incidents I’ve seen since we have five vehicles involved,” Lt. Raymond Macksoud said.
Macksoud said police had to shut down southbound Gratiot between Wendell and 16 Mile Road for more than six hours as officers conducted their investigation. The street was finally opened about 6 a.m. Saturday. ….MORE
