Minnesota: Mustang owner lost ’69 to a DUI conviction, now its up for auction

Public auctions have become a popular way for police departments to unload their seized and recovered property — mostly oodles of bikes, tools and electronics. But Saturday’s sale in Hastings will feature a rare find: a 1969 Ford Mustang. Hastings police confiscated the classic car during a 2008 drunken-driving arrest. “We certainly get DWI forfeitures periodically, but not a car like this,” said Police Chief Paul Schnell, who added that its body is in “fair” condition.
