Missouri:Driver charged with DWI, manslaughter, after crashing his truck head-on, killing 10-year-old girl; driver had no insurance



Greg Swaffar seems abundantly more happy in his Facebook photo than in his police arrest photo following being charged with the death of Melissa Keif, 10 years old.  A new report says he has 3 prior drunk driving arrests.
Barry County, MO. — The Missouri Highway Patrol reports that 10-year-old Melissa Keif, who was riding in a 1995 Mercury Sable operated by her father, Kenneth M. Keif, 33, of Washburn, Missouri, was killed when a truck crossed the center line and struck them head on Sat. Feb. 19, 2011 at 11:40 pm on Rt. 37 near Butterfield, MO.
The truck, a 1999 Dodge Dakota, was operated by Gregory D. Swaffar, 26, of Purdy, MO, who police say had no insurance and has been charged with manslaugher, DWI and assault. 
Also occupying the truck was Sandra S. Larson, 46, of Shell Knob, MO who was seriously injured and flown to the St. John’s Hospital in Joplin, MO.
Melissa and Kenneth Keif were both flown to Cox South Hospital in Springfield, MO where Melissa died on Monday, Feb. 21st at 11:05 am.
Investigating the crash were Troopers Andy Ward, Travis Hilburn and Cpl. Scott Richardson of the Crash Team.
Police reported this was the 11th fatality so far in 2011 for Troop D of the Missouri Highway Patrol.
