Missouri: driver ran sobriety checkpoint lines, hit and dragged highway worker; car found abandoned

KANSAS CITY, Mo. —
Kansas City police said they were still looking for a driver who struck and seriously injured a civilian employee of the Kansas City, Mo., Police Department early Saturday.
The dark-colored Dodge involved in the crash in the 7600 block of Troost Avenue was recovered late Saturday morning in the 200 block of East Bannister Road, police said. Police said the car was a rental and they were trying to track down the person who rented it.
Police and members of the Missouri Highway Patrol said they were conducting a sobriety checkpoint in the 7600 block of Troost Avenue at about 2:15 a.m. when a driver waiting to be checked accelerated, swerved out of line and hit the employee. …..MORE
