Grand Island’s city finance director has been arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence after a hit-and-run crash.

A Hall County Sheriff’s Department deputy saw 51-year-old Jaye Monter of Cairo, Nebraska rear-end another vehicle on U.S. Highway 2. Friday.  The deputy turned to follow Monter and activated his overhead lights, but Monter allegedly failed to stop ….MORE

Jaye Monter has been with the City of Grand Island’s Finance Department since 2000 and served as Senior Accountant since 2003.  Monter is a certified public accountant with over 27 years of experience in accounting and finance.  Monter’s responsibilities have included preparing, analyzing and interpreting financial statements and accounting records for the city, the Community Redevelopment Authority and three Business Improvement Districts.  In addition, Monter has helped review, supervise and direct processes and procedures for the Finance Department including the City’s annual budget and audit process.

Monter’s educational background includes a Bachlor of Science Comprehensive Business Administration with emphasis in accounting and finance from Kearney State College.  Monter’s career started in public accounting with a small firm in Colorado, then moved into the ag industry working as a controller for private cooperatives, grain elevators, ag dealers and  finally a heavy machinery construction company before coming to the City of Grand Island.
