Nebraska: police charge Michah B. Koch with death of Korey Elizabeth Huebner in DWI wreck

On January 28th, 2013 at 00:15 a.m., Deputies were called to the intersection of North Prairie Trace Road and West Platte Valley Road, north of Sutherland, NE. It was reported a vehicle had ran off the road and there were serious injuries to at least one person.
Deputies arrived and found a 1996 Ford F-250 Pickup in the west ditch of Prairie Trace Road. Investigation at the scene revealed prior to the accident, the pickup was westbound on Platte Valley Road when it drove through the intersection of Prairie Trace Road, striking the dirt bank on the west side of the road and coming to rest.
The vehicle was occupied by three individuals; 24 year old Korey E. Huebner of Hershey, NE., 24 year old Micah B. Koch of Hershey, NE. and 28 year old Jay D. Shotkoski of Hershey, NE. All subjects were transported to Great Plains Regional Medical Center for injuries. Ms. Huebner was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney, NE. for additional treatment.
Around 07:00 a.m., Deputies were informed that Ms. Huebner had died as a result of her injuries. Alcohol is believed to be involved in the accident and seatbelts were not in use. The investigation is ongoing and more information will be released as time allows.
UPDATE:  On January 31, 2013, 24 year old Micah B. Koch of Hershey, NE. was arrested and incarcerated in the Lincoln County Detention Center for; Motor Vehicle Homicide (a Class III Felony) and Driving While Intoxicated Serious Bodily Injury (a Class IIIA Felony). Mr. Koch was arraigned in Lincoln County Court and given a bond of 10% of $100,000.00. Initial reports indicated that Mr. Koch’s blood alcohol level was over two times the legal limit. Additionally, accident reconstructionists from the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office believed Mr. Koch’s vehicle was exceeding the speed limit prior to the crash. The investigation in this case is ongoing and updates may be provided at later date.
