NORTH LAS VEGAS, NV (11/27/2015) — North Las Vegas police identified the person accused of hitting and killing a teenage pedestrian before driving away from the scene Tuesday.
Police arrested Anthony Lauria, 28, in connection with the crash that took place on North 5th Street near Lone Mountain Road.
According to police, the crash happened at 12:20 p.m. when a black Ford Fusion was traveling northbound on 5th Street and left the roadway. The vehicle struck the teen, identified by the Clark County Coroner’s Office as 16-year-old Bobbie Grayson, of North Las Vegas, who was also walking northbound on the sidewalk, near a gutter area.
Evidence and witnesses lead officers to track the vehicle to a nearby neighborhood. Lauria, who was identified as the driver, was taken into custody without incident.
First responding medical personnel pronounced Grayson dead at the scene.
Police believe alcohol was a factor in the crash. Lauria was booked on felony counts of driving under the influence resulting in death and duty to stop at the scene of an accident resulting in death. He was also booked on failure to maintain travel lane. Read more:
