Aubrey Hooper III jailed on DUI-drugs hit and run crash that killed pedestrian

Las Vegas Metro Police Lt. Peter Kisfalvi reported that a white pickup truck struck a pedestrian who was crossing West Charleston Blvd.  Hooper was later arrested and charged with DUI – drugs and hit and run.

On July 27, 2017, at approximately 10:14 pm, a fatal pedestrian collision occurred at the intersection of West Charleston Boulevard and South Scholl drive. Evidence at the scene and witness statements indicated a pedestrian was walking north across Charleston Boulevard at the intersection with Scholl Drive when she was impacted by an eastbound Ford pickup. The pedestrian was knocked to the roadway and slid to a stop. The Ford continued east and left the collision scene. The operator of the Ford did not stop to render aid or call the police.
Emergency Medical Services arrived at the collision scene and the pedestrian was pronounced dead. The operator of the Ford returned to the collision scene with the vehicle approximately two hours after the incident occurred. He was arrested for hit and run and for suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs.

This was the 81st traffic related fatality in LVMPD’s jurisdiction for 2017. This collision remains under investigation by the LVMPD Collision Investigation Section.
