COLLISION DETAILS:
Las Vegas Metro Police report that on October 4, 2021, at approximately 7:04 PM, a fatal hit and run traffic collision occurred on West Tropicana Avenue, west of South Torrey Pines Drive. Evidence at the scene and statements from witnesses indicated that a 2014 Kia Cadenza traveled westbound on West Tropicana Avenue, west of South Torrey Pines Drive.

A pedestrian was crossing West Tropicana Avenue, west of the intersection, outside of a marked crosswalk.

A collision occurred when the pedestrian entered the path of the Kia and was struck by the left front of the vehicle. The
collision redirected the pedestrian to the west where he came to rest. The Kia failed to remain at the collision
scene and left the area.

Arriving medical personnel determined the pedestrian was beyond resuscitation and
ceased life-saving efforts. His death marks the 107th traffic-related fatality in the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police
Department’s jurisdiction for 2021.

The driver of the Kia eventually returned to the collision scene and showed signs of impairment. He was booked
into the Clark County Detention Center for related charges. The collision remains under investigation by the Las
Vegas Metropolitan Police Department’s Collision Investigation Section.
