North Las Vegas, Nevada – According to Las Vegas Metro Police, a man is dead following a crash that occurred April 24, 2016, in North Las Vegas.

On Sunday, April 24, 2016, at about 9:00 p.m. officers responded to the 3300 block of W. Lake Mead Boulevard in response to a collision. A passerby reported a body and a moped in the road at that location. Arriving officers found an adult male in the travel lanes.  Medical personnel declared the man deceased on scene. He appeared to have been riding a moped when he was involved in a collision.  

The preliminary investigation indicates both a 2002  Chevrolet Tahoe and the moped were traveling west on Lake Mead Boulevard when the collision occurred. The Tahoe fled the scene after the crash.

A witness followed the Tahoe and directed officers the vehicle at a nearby Walmart. Officers located the vehicle and the driver, 20-year-old Christian Potter. Potter was taken into custody after a brief struggle.

Potter was arrested and booked at the Las Vegas City Detention Center for DUI resulting in death, hit and run injury/death, duty to stop at an accident with death, fail to render aid at the scene of an accident, fail to report an accident to the DMV, duty to stop at scene of accident with damage, fail to give information to officer at an accident and fail to give information to parties at accident. This is the 9th fatal crash in North Las Vegas this year.

The decedent’s identity and cause and manner of death will be released by the Clark County Coroner’s office.
