New Hampshire: city official in charge of enforcing zoning laws busted for allegedly violating boozing while driving laws

Code Enforcement officer new to town, has DUI on his record one year ago, newspaper reports

LACONIA — The city’s code enforcement officer, William Stewart, was arraigned Thursday on a charge of second offense driving while under the influence of intoxicating liquor or drugs.
Stewart, 53, appeared in Laconia District Court without an attorney and entered a plea of not guilty. The judge released him on $1,000 personal recognizance bail and Stewart is slated to stand trial on Aug. 30 at 8:30 a.m.
Laconia police arrested Stewart on May 28 at 10:16 p.m. after stopping him at 630 Weirs Blvd. Stewart reportedly was driving a 2000 Mercury Sable bearing Ohio license plates…..MORE
