NEW HAMPSHIRE: State Trooper Derek Myrdek nabbed fleeing DUI driver Eric Lewis over the hill and through the woods on the way to his grandma’s house

Vehicle Pursuit / Felony Arrest. Bow NH

The New Hampshire State Police report that on May 30, 2021, at approximately 12:09 A.M. New Hampshire State Police Trooper Derek Myrdek engaged in a vehicle pursuit after the vehicle failed to stop for Bow Police on Interstate 89 North in the area of Exit 2. Trooper Myrdek observed erratic operation with varying speeds and lane control issues. The pursuit continued north on Interstate 89 then merged onto Route 202/9 West via Exit 5.

The vehicle continued to drive erratically while attempting to elude police. The vehicle drove off the roadway in the town of Henniker, NH, and crashed into some trees and a rock wall. The operator immediately fled on foot from the scene of the crash. Trooper Myrdek being a K9 handler, deployed on a track with his K9 partner “Ragnar”, and the operator was successfully located and taken into custody without further incident. The operator was identified as Eric J. Lewis of Laconia, NH, Age: 50.

The female passenger in the vehicle was identified as the wife of Lewis.

Both Lewis and his wife were transported to Concord Hospital for medical evaluations and were later cleared medically.

Eric J. Lewis is charged with
disobeying a police officer,
reckless operation,
aggravated DUI,
reckless conduct with a deadly weapon,
conduct after an accident,
operating after suspension
and resisting arrest.

He will have a future to be determined court date out of Merrimack Superior Court. Lewis also had a Belknap Superior Court warrant for his arrest and is currently being held at Merrimack County Jail for that warrant.

New Hampshire State Police was assisted on scene by Bow Police, Henniker Police, Henniker Fire and Rescue, Hillsboro Police, and John’s Wrecker service.
