VINELAND — A city man charged with six drunken driving offenses in a 3-month period earlier this year will spend a year in jail and lose his driver’s license for 34 years, a municipal judge ruled Thursday.
Anderson Sotomayor, 45, was sentenced after he pleaded guilty to three drunken driving offenses, according to attorney Frank Amari Jr., who served as Sotomayor’s public defender.
Sotomayor made headlines through the spring as he continued to rack up DWI charges in Vineland, drawing outrage from some citizens and elected officials. His arrests have inspired state legislation intended to increase penalties for repeat drunk drivers.
In addition to the guilty pleas in three of the cases handled Thursday, a fourth DWI charge was dismissed. ….MORE
