New Jersey: Lacey Township Police note DUI arrests for April 22, 2014; vehicles impounded under “John’s Law”

DUI (Arrest) – On Saturday, January 18, 2014, at 4:09 p.m., Officer Scott Keefe conducted a traffic stop on Laurel Boulevard in Lanoka Harbor. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of the driver, 21-year-old Joseph Bellettiere of Cedar Drive in Lanoka Harbor for DUI. He was transported to police headquarters, processed and released after receiving traffic summonses for DUI, Reckless Driving, Failure to Maintain Lane, and Failure to Wear Seatbelt. The vehicle was impounded pursuant to John’s Law.

DUI (Arrest) – On Monday, January 20, 2014, at 10:54 p.m., Officer Evan Androcy conducted a traffic stop on Route 9 South near Station Drive, in Forked River. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of the driver, 31-year-old Stanley N. Zalewski, of Imperato Court in Toms River for DUI. He was transported to police headquarters and processed. Stanley N. Zalewski was later released after receiving traffic summonses for DUI, Reckless Driving, Failure to Maintain Lane, and Failure to Exhibit both insurance and registration documents. The vehicle Stanley N. Zalewski was operating was impounded pursuant to John’s Law.

DUI (Arrest) – On Thursday, January 9, 2014, at 6:24 p.m., Officer Peter Donahue responded to the intersection of Lakeside Drive South and Ravine Drive in reference to a two-car motor vehicle accident in which the involved parties were involved in a verbal dispute. While investigating the incident, it was discovered that the accident occurred at the intersection of Deerhead Lake Drive and Serpentine Drive when 54-year-old Toni E. Blackwell of 2258 Lakeside Drive South in Forked River ran the stop sign and collided with a vehicle driven by, 26-year-old David Monko of 1916 Whitcomb Road in Forked River. Toni Blackwell fled the scene and pulled into a driveway of a residence that she thought was vacant, but was followed by David Monko. Further investigation led to the arrest of Toni Blackwell for DUI. Toni Blackwell was issued summons for DUI, reckless driving, and leaving the scene of an accident.

DUI and Underage Consumption of Alcohol – On Saturday, January 11, 2014, at 11:46 p.m., Officers Michael Verwey and Dimitrios Tsarnas stopped a vehicle in the parking lot of Wawa, 800 Lacey Road in Forked River. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of the driver, 19 year-old Zachary E. Gray of Capstan Drive in Forked River for DUI and Underage Consumption of Alcohol.  Lacey Used Auto impounded the vehicle pursuant to John’s Law. Zachary Gray was transported to headquarters where he provided breath samples. Zachary Gray was issued summonses for Underage Consumption of Alcohol, DWI, Reckless Driving, Speeding, and for a Provisional Drivers License Violation. The two passengers in the vehicle, 18-year-old Ethan J. Walter of 2524 Hurry Road in Forked River and 20-year-old Daniel J. Hadley of 1829 Second Street in West Deptford, NJ were charged with the municipal ordinance violation for underage consumption of alcoholic beverages at a private residence.  Additional investigation led officers to the 103 Pine Street in Forked River where additional persons were believed to be consuming alcohol under the legal age. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of 20 year-old Sabrina Bowen of 103 Pine Street in Forked River; 19-year-old Jessica B Valentine of 510 Cedarwood Drive in Lanoka Harbor; and 20-year-old Brandi-Lynn Rousse of 1419 Jay Street in Forked River for the municipal ordinance violation of Underage Consumption of Alcohol in a private residence.   They were each charged and released at the scene.

DUI (Arrest) – On Friday, January 3, 2014, at 1:44 p.m., Officer John Cernek was on patrol when he observed a vehicle off of the roadway into the snow near the intersection of Beach Boulevard and Clubhouse Drive. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of the driver, 53-year-old William Mckelvey of 813 Beach Boulevard in Forked River for DUI. The vehicle was impounded pursuant to John’s Law. William Mckelvey was transported to police headquarters where he refused to provide samples of his breath. William Mckelvey was charged with driving while intoxicated, refusal to submit breath samples, reckless driving, failure to maintain lane, and DUI. William McKelvey was also issued a criminal summons for driving while suspended while being suspended for a previous DUI.

DUI (Arrest) – On Sunday, January 5, 2013 at 1:37 a.m., Officer Dimitri Tsarnas stopped a vehicle on Route 9 near Beach Boulevard. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of 22-year-old Ashley Biele of 205 Carol Drive in Toms River for DUI. The vehicle was impounded pursuant to John’s Law. Ashley Biele was transported to Lacey Township Police Headquarters where she refused to provide breath samples. Ashley Biele was charged with DUI, refusal to provide breath samples, reckless driving, failure to maintain lane, and failure to report change of address.

DUI and CDS (Arrest) – On Thursday, December 27, 2013 at 1:49 a.m., Officer Dimitri Tsarnas conducted a traffic stop on Route 9 near Murray Grove Lane in Lanoka Harbor. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of the driver, 30-year-old Angelo Scalzo of Lanoka Harbor, for DUI and possession of Marijuana. He was transported to police headquarters and processed. Angelo Scalzo was later released after receiving a criminal summons for Possession of Marijuana and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. In addition, Angelo Scalzo was issued traffic summonses for DUI, Reckless Driving, Speeding, and Possession of CDS in a Motor Vehicle. The vehicle Angelo Scalzo was operating was impounded pursuant to John’s Law.

DUI and Underage Possession of Alcohol (Arrests) – On Saturday, December 28, 2013 at 12:50 a.m., Officer Michael Verwey conducted a traffic stop on Lacey Road in Forked River. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of the driver, 18-year-old Steven Prezwodek of Forked River, for DUI. Steven Prezwodek was transported to police headquarters and processed. A 15-year-old male juvenile passenger from Forked River was also arrested for underage possession/consumption of alcohol. He was later released to his parents after being charged on a juvenile complaint with Underage Possession of Alcohol. Steven Prezwodek was later released on traffic summonses for DUI, Reckless Driving, Speeding, and Open Container of Alcohol in a Motor Vehicle. In addition, Steven Prezwodek was issued a complaint summons for Underage Possession of Alcohol and for DUI with a Minor Passenger.

DUI (Arrest) – On Saturday, April 11, 2014, at 2:02 a.m., Officer Noah Schaffer was on patrol when he observed a car that had crashed into a utility pole near the intersection of Route 9 and First Street. Upon further investigation, the driver, 28-year-old Mark R. Spina of Forked River, was placed under arrest for DUI and transported to Lacey Township police headquarters. The vehicle was impounded pursuant to John’s Law. Mark Spina was issued summonses for DUI, failure to submit breath samples, reckless driving, failure to maintain lane, and using a cell phone while operating a moving vehicle

Driving while Suspended for DUI (Arrest) – On Saturday, April 12, 2014, at 8:47 a.m., Officer Jeffrey Slota conducted a motor vehicle stop on Route 9 near Mario’s Restaurant for a cell phone violation. Upon further investigation it was determined that the driver, 53-year-old Kenneth Logan of Sheridan Street in Waretown, was driving while suspended. A check of the driver abstract indicated that Kenneth Logan was driving while suspended during the period of license suspension for a third Driving While Intoxicated violation. Kenneth Logan was arrested and transported to Lacey Township police headquarters where he was processed and released on a criminal summons. Kenneth Logan was charged with the 4th degree crime of operating a motor vehicle during a period of suspension for his third DUI. Kenneth Logan was also issued a summons for using a cell phone in a moving vehicle.

DUI (Arrest) – On Saturday, April 12, 2014, at 3:56 p.m., Officer Anthony Sarno responded to the area of Route 9 and Lacey Road in Forked River in reference to an erratic driver which was called in by a concerned citizen. Officer Sarno was able to locate the vehicle and conduct a motor vehicle stop in the parking lot of Sunrise Plaza. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of the driver, 53-year-old Dwayne Creamer of Iger Way in Bayville, NJ, for DUI. The vehicle was impounded pursuant to John’s Law. Dwayne Creamer was issued summonses for DUI, reckless driving, and failure to maintain lane.

DUI (Arrest) – On Sunday, April 13, 2014, at 1:45 a.m., Special Officer Travis Horton conducted a motor vehicle stop in the parking lot of the 7-11 store at 524 Lacey Road in Forked River. Special Officer Horton arrested 30-year-old Robert Kologe of Wynnewood Road in Forked River for DUI. The vehicle was impounded pursuant to John’s Law. Robert Kologe was transported to Lacey Township police headquarters where he refused to provide breath samples. Robert Kologe was issued summonses for DUI, refusal to submit breath samples, and reckless driving.

.DUI (Arrest) – On Friday, April 04, 2014, at 1:41 a.m., Officer Dimitri Tsarnas stopped a vehicle in the parking lot of the Lacey Township Municipal Building after observing motor vehicle violations on Lacey Road. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of Anita Roberts of Neptune Avenue in Beachwood, NJ, for DUI. The vehicle was impounded as per John’s Law. Anita Roberts was issued motor vehicle summonses for DUI, Reckless Driving, Maintenance of Lamps, and Failure to Maintain Lane.

DUI with Accident and Underage Consumption of Alcohol (Arrest) – On Saturday, March 29, 2014, at 2:27 a.m., officers responded to the intersection of Cedar Avenue and Lake Barnegat Drive North in Lanoka Harbor for a traffic accident with injuries. Upon arrival, officers determined it was a one vehicle accident involving four (4) occupants. Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of the driver, 21-year-old Darren J. MacGillivray Jr. of Forrest Avenue in Lanoka Harbor for DUI. He was transported to police headquarters, processed, and released after receiving traffic summonses for DUI, Reckless Driving, and Failure to Stop. The vehicle’s passengers, identified as 20-year-old Thomas A. Prosser of Warren Avenue in Lanoka Harbor; 18-year-old Gregory J. Fenton of Dugout Drive in Lanoka Harbor; and 18-year-old Miranda L. Holsten of I street in Seaside Park, NJ, were all later charged on a Special Complaint and Summons with Underage Consumption of Alcohol. As a result of the crash, one of the passengers sustained minor injuries and was transported to Community Medical Center for treatment by Lanoka Harbor EMS. The vehicle Darren MacGillivray Jr. was operating was impounded pursuant to John’s Law.
