EAST GREENWICH — Mayor Fred Grant was arrested after he allegedly drove drunk at 91 mph, township police said Thursday.
Grant, 42, was pulled over in a 45 mph zone on northbound Kings Highway between midnight and 12:30 a.m. Wednesday, according to East Greenwich Police Chief Barry Jenkins.
It took more than a mile for the officer to catch up with Grant at Bodo Otto Drive.
“As the officer approached the car, he easily detected an odor of alcohol,” Jenkins said.
Field sobriety tests were conducted and a Breathalyzer test showed Grant’s blood-alcohol level was above the legal limit of .08 percent, the chief said. ….MORE
