New York: Christmas Day booze cruise ends job promotion for town’s money manager, but he will set tax rates

NORTH GREENBUSH — Town Assessor and Comptroller John Harkin, who is facing two felony DWI charges, resigned from his Comptroller position last week, according to Town Councilman Lou Desso.
Desso said that the Town Board received Harkin’s resignation on Jan. 20, adding that it was “in no way related to his current legal situation.”
Harkin was arrested on Dec. 25 and charged with felony DWI and felony aggravated DWI after registering .20 percent blood alcohol content. He had previously been arrested and charged with misdemeanor DWI in July 2004.   MORE
